THE HEART OF THE FATHERS TEAM

At the Heart of the Fathers Foundation, we are deeply committed to supporting the rising generation - young people who, despite growing up with unprecedented access to technology and information, often feel lost, alone, and without direction. Many are simply looking for someone who will listen without judgment, love without conditions, and guide without imposing expectations.

At the same time, we hold great respect for the Boomer and Gen X generations - those who carry a lifetime of wisdom, experience, and stories worth sharing. Our mission is to bridge the gap between the rising and sunset generations, and to empower both to build meaningful, lasting relationships that shape the future for good.

It’s our hope that this website and its resources will inspire and equip you - whether you’re working, semi-retired, or retired—to see the incredible opportunity before you. The return on investing in healthy, vibrant, and intentional relationships with your grandchildren? Absolutely priceless.

Roland Thompson

Hi, I’m Roland, founder of the Heart of the Fathers movement. Our mission is to inspire, enhance, and empower grandparents to have a positive impact on their families, especially their grandchildren.

To date, the richest experiences I’ve had include the opportunities I’ve created to bond, walk beside, and share experiences with my grandchildren. I should know something about grandkids. I have forty-nine! Once I shifted from the habit of viewing (and I dare say judging) through the lens of my generation and expectations, and spent time getting to know them and who they really are, everything changed – almost immediately.

I discovered that I needed to alter my approach first. My focus has moved from my goals and expectations for them, to focusing on their dreams and goals, and especially to help them feel accepted, loved, and whole. It is my chief aim to support them in discernment, and in discovering and pursuing their own opportunities and potentials.

Given what seems to be a growing gap between generations and the perception of barriers and obstacles for grandparents to make a difference and have a positive influence, it’s my goal to support you in your role of grandparenting today’s rising generations.

Lee Ostler

As I grow older and watch my family expand (now at twenty grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and counting), I’ve become more aware of the lasting impact my life can have on theirs. I also realize there is more I can and should do. Like many, I’ve wondered when I eventually fade from the picture will my family remember and value the connections we shared? Will my influence leave a meaningful and healthy imprint on their minds and hearts? Will our hearts have turned to each other and been connected in a way that blesses them into the future?

I have discovered that for that to happen, something had to change. Mostly me. And me first! I’ve come to understand that the most crucial shift is with my mindset and how I see my role. This new perspective has transformed everything about how I approach and relate to my children and grandchildren. New tools, tactics, and skills have helped. But more than that is the change in the way I see both myself and them. I’ve learned that true connection is more than surface-level. It is to be authentically known, and in understanding their hearts, fears, hopes, and the real inside person.

I am committed to doing better and in supporting a broader community of parents and grandparents who make connection a priority, and who help their families become better prepared for the world ahead.

Jayann Wright

I’m Jayann—mom to a bright and adventurous little boy named Bridger, and part of this growing movement that is near to my heart. As a parent raising a child in today’s fast-paced and uncertain world, I’ve come to see just how vital strong, loving connections between generations truly are.

What began as simple storytelling and quality time with my son grew into a deeper appreciation for the legacy of family, wisdom, and love that can flow between grandparents and grandchildren. I’ve watched Bridger light up when he hears about his ancestors, and I’ve seen how his confidence grows when he feels connected—really connected—to where he comes from and the people who love him.

I’m honored to be part of Heart of the Fathers, where we help grandparents rediscover just how powerful their role can be. My hope is to continue learning, growing, and helping bridge generations in a way that builds up families from the inside out.

Jayvee Coy

As a wife, a soon to be mom, and someone whose heart beats for family legacy. My husband and I recently experienced the deep sorrow of losing our first baby, a grief that has shaped and deepened our perspective on life, family, and purpose. Now, as we await the arrival of our next child, I feel a renewed sense of calling to build something lasting and meaningful, not just for our own family, but for others too.

I’ve always been drawn to family history. Learning the stories, understanding the roots, and honoring the sacrifices of those who came before us. There’s something powerful in knowing who you are and where you come from. That sense of identity and belonging can ground a person in truth and strength, especially in today’s world.

Joining Heart of the Fathers has been a natural extension of this passion. I believe in helping grandparents see just how much their presence, stories, and love can shape the rising generation. My aim is to help families connect deeply and live with purpose, knowing that what we do today echoes through generations to come.
